You have also claimed you are an “Investigative Journalist” but I believe you are an activist, plain and simple. You are not interested in reporting the news or facts or the truth; you are more interested in creating your own news cycle. Like a person who starts a fire in a 55 gallon oil drum under the high school bleachers or lets the wolf out of its cage – and then runs around crying ‘fire” and “wolf” so they can record the mayhem on their cell phone and then claim they are talented.

Again, you try to come after me via my family, and again you have your facts WRONG (so much for the award winning national journalist who can’t get her facts straight). As I said in the above prior comment: “What Ms. Barr doesn’t know is that I ran away from my home and a very successful family business, with my wife and three small children, 17 years ago, just to get away from my brother Calvin and father. . .”; when I left the family business (June 29, 1995) a series of legal documents were restructured and signed by all parties whereby I and my father converted prior retirement documents to a 15 year mortgage, a 10 year consulting agreement and a 10 year covenant not to compete.

I have paid my debt in full and early and actually over paid him (my mother died of cancer in early 2001) interest not earned but I felt owed anyway. While none of this is your business, I refuse to allow you to malign me and my immediate family without attempting to defend myself.

Why would she, a perfect stranger to me (absent her proclaimed status as a videographer and journalist, making a video for Shale Shock Media about that meeting – see the video), approach me a “supposed” perfect stranger, stick a camera in my face and say “How’s your brother doing?” (Referring to my brother Calvin, convicted of murder in 2009 in Tioga Co. & in prison for 25 years to life – see the overlay reference in the video). Wonder why that segment got edited out of her film?

What had that got to do with my attending a public work shop on developing an 18 month Moratorium in the Town Of Oneonta, NY? The answer is provocation and intimidation, to teach me a fundamental lesson, keep your head down and your mouth shut! What about my rights, why should I be personally harassed for having a public opinion; I pay over $45,000 a year in towns and counties tax, I employee nearly 40 people and pay $1.8 million dollars in payroll each year, I collect and pay $1.2 million or more in NYS and county Sales Tax each year . . . therefore I have as much right as anyone to voice an opinion on what may affect our local economy; in this case the proposed and unnecessary Moratorium.

What Ms. Barr doesn’t know is that I ran away from my home and a very successful family business, with my wife and three small children 17 years ago, just to get away from my brother Calvin and father (oh, yah, she put my 84 year old father’s name on the video too – despicable, like he hasn’t suffered enough). I think it is just plain creepy for her to try to hit me below the belt like that – I go to one prior meeting and she does research on me and my family, who does that? Ms. Barr must have perceived me as a threat to have gone to that much trouble after my attending just one meeting. “Better shut up that “Fracker”!

The joke is that I am an environmentalist, I am pro-business and I am anti-big government but I am NOT pro-fracking! Unlike her, I do live on a 190 acre Organic Farm and have been selling my Organic Hay to local Organic Dairy Farmers since 1997. For the last two years I have been selling to Eckland Farms in Stamford, one of the largest dairy farms in Delaware Co. and they drive nearly 80 miles round trip to cut and use my hay.

I have two streams on my property; one a DEC designated Trout Stream (Otego Creek) and I have developed five large fish ponds, two of which are spring fed. My neighbor, James Herman (an opponent of Horizontal Hydro Fracturing and a very intelligent well informed person) and I paid a firm from Ithaca, NY to test all our wells, ponds and spring holes so as to have a basis if the neighboring 400 acre farm (whose owners had signed several gas well drilling leases), was to eventually be drilled. We split the cost to have the waters tested on the 400 acre farm as well, because the cost at the time was prohibitive for our neighbors.

I belong to or have belonged to a half dozen environmental and wildlife organizations and been active on their committees including: Trout Unlimited, Ducks Unlimited, The Ruff Grouse Society (who’s CEO in a personal friend), the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, the Arbor Day Foundation, the Nature Conservancy and the Audubon Society. I own and maintain 42 acres of wetlands in the town of Pittsfield. I have been working with the Otsego County Land Trust to put all or part of my land in trust. I am an outdoors man, fisherman and former hunter. Why would I do anything to harm the lands and waters I cherish, nurture and love? I would not!

If Ms. Barr is half the journalist she claims to be, then she should have approached me differently and tried to find out who I really am, what my objections to the Moratorium really were or to try to persuade me; instead of trying to harass, provoke and intimidate me from the very instant she approached me. Everybody who knows me knows that I am very approachable, amiable, respectful and friendly. I am always willing to listen to the other side. It’s too bad that she decided attacking me via my family would suit her agenda better. The shame and sham are on her!

Had you watched it, you would know from the very start that “Eaglesmere is a community that began in the late 1800′s…”. You have no comment on what anyone said in this movie, including George Jenkins, a landowner and board member of Trout Unlimited, or the debate between Engelder and Ingraffea. You didn’t watch the parts about the building of the Toboggan slide, or the scenes at the Inn at Eaglesmere, which contradict your assertion that there is nothing for tourists to do here. Your comment has all the markings of the type of comment that someone working for Energy in Depth, i.e. the gas industry, would leave on a blog.
