In most of New York state, gas companies would simply tear up the landscape prospecting for a relative few hot spots
Look at the isopachs for the hot/not spots in Pa. vs NYS – in the Power Point attached.
The green and blue areas may be marginally productive -in spots. There are no orange./red hot spots in NYS. Sorry.
Given the environmental damage, road and bridge damage, prospecting probably not worth it in most NYS towns/counties.
All wells drilled with damage local property values. Some wells may make up for that in ad valorem taxes. Some will not.
Which is why the locals should adopt ordinances to address the downside. Soon . . . .
